Sweet 16 Men's NCAA Basketball Day 2 2022

Ochai Agbaji Kansas Jayhawk NCAA Tournament 2022

Will We Have Any 1 Seeds Left?

I don't think I'm the only one that was shocked that Gonzaga lost. To me it seemed like the perfect storm for them to fall. Terrible shooting, great shooting on the other side, and I hate to say it, horrendous refereeing.

The second day of games brings some interesting matchups. As I've learned in this tournament, remove yourself from any emotional opinion on whether a team will win or not. Today Saint Peter's is playing, again a 15 seed and I'm sure most people are going to write them off. I wouldn't, they are a good team, well coached, and can play with any team in the nation. I'm still a fan of Purdue, but the Peacock's are gonna give them a run for their money.

Here are my picks for the final day of Sweet 16 games:

  • (15) Saint Peter's vs (3) Purdue: I still really like Ivey and the Purdue crew. Although I can't deny how good Saint Peter's has looked. Purdue, but a close one.
  • (4) Providence vs (1) Kansas: The Jayhawks are the last number 1 seed left. I think they will be just a little much for Providence. Kansas
  • (8) North Carolina vs UCLA: I'm still not a fan of the coaching for either of these two schools. With that said, I think UNC can edge out the Bruins. I don't see a lot of good offense coming from Westwood. Tar Heels
  • (11) Iowa State vs (10) Miami: I've been a fan of Miami from round 1. Good team that has peaked at the right time. Iowa State is good, I don't think they have the bench scoring that will be needed to keep up with the Hurricanes. The U.

Each round I seem to be getting worse at picking the winners. I'm sure today will be no different, but I'd like to think at some point before the final 4 I'll be getting better.
