UFC Fight Island Is Coming

UFC Fight Island

Due to Coronavirus, everything in life has changed. Specifically sports, yet the UFC has continuously found a way to keep it interesting, and most importantly, ENTERTAINING! This coming weekend, we will finally get to see Fight Island. The idea of an island (Yas Island, Abu Dhabi), specifically created for fighting, was to me a wild and crazy idea. For Dana White, nothing is crazy and nothing seems to be impossible.

Oh and to make things even cooler… He created a card that may be the best card this year.

If you are even the most average UFC fan, you already know that the super card on July 11th, 2020 has evolved into a Mega Card. Even when Gilbert Burns was still part of the main event, the Main Card was stacked. Now that Jorge Masvidal was added, which probably wasn’t that easy considering all the contract issues he and the UFC were having, only proves that Dana White can get anything done. If you paid for the Amanda Nunes vs Felicia Spencer UFC 250 fight, you’ll definitely want to get UFC 251, with the following main card:

Kamaru Usman (16-1-0) vs. Jorge Masvidal (35-13-0) Welterweight
Alex Volkanovski (21-1-0) vs. Max Holloway (25-5-0) Featherweight
Petr Yan (14-1-0) vs. Jose Aldo (28-6-0) Bantamweight
Jessica Andrade (20-7-0) vs. Rose Namajunas (9-4-0) Women Strawweight
Amanda Ribas (9-1-0) vs. Paige VanZant (8-4-0) Women Flyweight

Is that good enough for you? Ok, then check out the prelims as well, which also makes for some pretty good viewing over on ESPN.

Volkan Oezdemir (17-4-0) vs. Jiri Prochazka (26-3-1) Light Heavyweight
Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos (22-6-0) vs. Muslim Salikhov (16-2-0) Welterweight
Makwan Amirkhani (15-4-0) vs. Danny Henry (12-3-0) Featherweight
Leonardo Santos (17-4-1) vs. Roman Bogatov (10-0-0) Lightweight

I’d say that’s a pretty good day of fighting out there on the island. It’s nice to have some live sports to look forward to again. Hopefully more sports will be able to learn and follow in the UFC footsteps. All I know is that if Dana White were running baseball, we’d probably already have a season underway.
